A Magical Mary Poppins Lands at North Shore Music Theatre on July 12

BEVERLY – With a spoonful of sugar and a whole lot of theatrical magic, Mary Poppins lands onstage at Bill Hanney’s award-winning North Shore Music Theatre for an extended, three-week run starting Tues. July 12 and playing through Sun. July 31.
“The summer is about to take a magical turn with our high flying production of Mary Poppins. This show is very large, and very complicated technically, especially for our unique theatre-in-the-round,” said NSMT owner and producer Bill Hanney.
“The special effects including flying Mary Poppins, not just over the stage, but over the audience as well. Working with flying specialists, and brilliant creative team, we are figuring it all out to give the North Shore Music Theatre audiences a very special experience,” Hanney explained. “I am never one to back away from a challenge. I truly believe that, as the song says, anything can happen if you let it!”
The Disney classic Mary Poppins is now a full Broadway musical and the winner of 44 major theatre awards from around the globe! The story of Mary Poppins, the magical nanny who flies into the troubled lives of the Banks Family, has captivated audiences for generations, and now the enchanting story, unforgettable songs and breathtaking production numbers will dazzle and delight audiences of all ages.
The stage adaptation of Mary Poppins includes the beloved Sherman Brothers songs from the Oscar-Winning 1964 film, and also includes many new songs, composed by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, exclusively for the stage show. The exciting score includes A Spoonful of Sugar, Chim Chim Cher-ee, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, Jolly Holiday With Mary, Feed the Birds, Step in Time, and Anything Can Happen if You Let It.
Additional Free Audience Enrichment events include a Meet the Theatre post-show audience discussion with the artists on July 19 after the 7:30PM performance and July 23 after the 2PM performance. OUT at the North Shore, an evening for the Gay and Lesbian Community with a post-show reception will be held on July 21 after the 7:30PM performance, sponsored in part by Ryan & Wood Inc.

The cast of Mary Poppins will be lead by Kerry Conte (Mary Poppins) and Brad Bradley (Bert). The show features James Andrew Walsh (George Banks), Molly Garner (Winifred Banks), Al Bundonis (Admiral Boom/Bank Chairman), Janelle A. Robinson (Miss Andrew/Mrs Corry), Jennie Boone (Miss Lark), Brian Padgett (Robertson Ay), Ellen Peterson (Bird Woman/Mrs. Brill), and Jake Ryan Flynn (Michael Banks), and Scarlett Keene-Connell (Jane Banks).
The ensemble of Mary Poppins features Carlyn S. Connolly, Craig Donnelly, Jordan Dunlap, Cameron Edris, Alex Eisenberg, Briana Fallon, Jacob Paulson, Haven Pierra, Will Porter, Cara Salerno, Brad Trump, Lael Van Kuren, Chris Woods, and Alex Zarlengo.

The 2016 Season at NSMT
North Shore Music Theatre will continue the 2016 musical season in August. Beverly’s theatre-in-the-round will be soaked as Singin’ in the Rain storms through from August 16 to September 4. Audiences will be sore from laughing their behinds off when Monty Python’s Spamalot comes from Sept 27 through October 9. The season will sizzle with the heat, passion, and drama of West Side Story from November 1 through 20. The season will conclude with the 26th annual production of A Christmas Carol starring David Coffee running from December 9 to 23.
