14th Annual Salem’s So Sweet Chocolate & Ice Sculpture Festival
SALEM – The 14th annual Salem’s So Sweet Chocolate & Ice Sculpture Festival will bring a record-breaking 23 beautiful ice sculptures to downtown Salem starting February 6. Some of this year’s ice sculptures will include The Friendship, the Mad Hatter, an alpaca, and more as well as an actual ice bar on Rockafellas’ patio.
This decadent tradition of delectable chocolate, sparkling ice sculptures, and Valentine’s Day shopping is the absolute sweetest event of the year in Salem, sponsored by Salem Main Streets, the Salem Chamber of Commerce, Destination Salem, and local retailers, restaurants, and businesses. Many participating businesses will offer chocolate samplings and sweet discounts around downtown Salem all weekend with some of Salem’s finest restaurants and retailers be offering their own luscious chocolate and love-inspired specials and events.
The festival officially kicks off with a Chocolate and Wine Tasting, on Fri. February 5th from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Colonial Hall at Rockafellas. The luscious tasting is sponsored by Social Palates, and will feature wine and chocolate samplings from premier Salem restaurants, stores, and sweet shops, as well as music by Molly Pinto Madigan. Tickets are $25 a person and can now be purchased over the phone by calling 978-744-0004, online, or in person at the Salem Chamber of Commerce.
A special evening stroll will be held on Saturday, Feb. 6 when some of the sculptures will be temporarily illuminated between 5PM and 9PM by Retonica!
The Salem Trolley offers trolley rides around the festival route weather permitting on February 6 & 7 from 12 pm to 4 pm for only $2 an adult (free for children). Trolley pick-up locations include the Visitor Center, Pickering Wharf, and near Rockafellas on Washington Street.
Weather permitting, a small skating rink at the Museum Place Mall Fountain operated by Salem Parks Recreation and Community Services has been added to the festivities. Come out for hot cocoa and family fun on Feb. 6 from 5PM to 8PM and Feb. 7 from 12PM to 4PM! You must bring your skates as there are no rentals available onsite.
A new in-store promotion called the “Sweet 10% Promotion” will run this year. When shoppers make a full-price purchase at one participating downtown business, they will get 10% off your purchase at the next participating business. Some restrictions may apply with the offer running on February 6 & 7 only,
