BOSTON – Kane’s has been serving Saugus and North of Boston since 1955, and it finally opened its second location on Wednesday when it sold out all 2,000 donuts in under six hours. The shop is known for its cult-like following and national accolades, and the Delios family is excited to bring the region’s first handcrafted donut store to Boston’s downtown financial district.

“There are no conflicts or frowns over a Kane’s Donut,” said Chef Paul Delios, the co-owner and manager of Kane’s along with his four siblings. “Our donuts are love.”

Kane’s delights donut devotees, distant visitors, and locals alike with travelers and regulars known to visit the Saugus shop at 3:30AM and celebrities regularly requesting their fix while filming locally.

The siblings’ parents bought Kane’s in 1988 from original owners Bob and June, and the family has continued implementing the same traditional techniques while using fresh, local ingredients whenever possible to create the best handcrafted donut in Massachusetts.

“Our family has always been amazed at the letters we get from people and the visitors who take a cab or Uber to Saugus because they heard how wonderful and unique our donuts are,” Delios explained.

“Moving to Boston makes it easier for all to enjoy what we lovingly make.”

The new store will continue offering a smaller lineup of the same uniquely flavored donuts as the Saugus location where they will still be made, however, the Boston shop will be hand-stuffing and finishing on site and in view of guests. Kane’s will also offer their world-famous, hubcap-sized coffee cakes and signature Kronuts at the new location where a special blend of Peet’s Coffee will be served.

The new location will also feature another Kane’s signature product: the dowich. The new line of sandwiches uses a special brioche-based dough as bread that will come in several varieties that include Mediterranean chicken, lobster salad, and braised beef. Paul is the author of a Greek cookbook, At The Greek Table.

Kane’s Handcrafted Donuts is located at 2 International Place, 90 Oliver Street, Boston, MA 02110. They are open Monday through Friday from 6AM to 5PM with Saturday and Sunday hours to be determined. There is free delivery in the Financial District and for custom orders. Call to order, pay by phone,  and Kane’s will even deliver your order curbside to the car.
