Planning Committee announces Revere Columbus Day Parade to officially return in 2013
REVERE – For many years, the Columbus Day Parade was one of Revere’s hallmarks events, however, the parade was cancelled several years ago due to budget constraints.
Keeping a promise to continue to create (and re-create) positive community events, Mayor Daniel Rizzo has remained committed to bring back the parade since taking office.
The Columbus Day Planning Committee, which includes city officials, Revere Chamber of Commerce members, and other community stakeholders, have been meeting frequently since last year’s successful Columbus Day Breakfast.
The Committee is happy to announce that the Revere Columbus Day Parade will return in 2013, scheduled for Monday October 14 with the fundraising breakfast on Sunday, October 13, 2013.
“I would like to take this opportunity to inform ALL residents of Revere about the return of our Columbus Day Parade. It will carry on in it’s tradition of being a wonderful, fun event for people of all ages,” commented Mayor Rizzo in a press release. “I look forward to sharing this very special day with all of you as we showcase all the beautiful things that the City of Revere has to offer. On behalf of all involved in making this parade a reality once again, I thank you for your support”.
In addition, to raise awareness and defray the costs of the event, the Planning Committee will be hosting a pasta dinner on Thursday June 20th at the Beachmont VFW starting at 5:30pm. Tickets will be $15.00 per person and may be purchased through the Revere Chamber of Commerce, 108 Beach Street, Revere, MA 02151, by calling (781) 289-8009, or email: email@example.com.
Please take the opportunity of getting involved with the return of the Columbus Day Parade by either participating in or donating to this worthwhile celebration.
