REVERE – Friday, October 26, 2012 the City of Revere held it’s first ever Economic Development Summit at the Comfort Inn & Suites. Mayor Rizzo, along with his Economic Development Team, spent months planning, and preparing, for this important and successful event.
The goal of the conference was to showcase Revere to regional and national developers in order to attract potential investors interested in partnering with the City on unique development opportunities.
Speakers included Congressman Edward Markey, Speaker of the House Robert DeLeo, State Senator Anthony Petruccelli, Representative Kathi-Anne Reintein, Suffolk Downs COO Chip Tuttle, Victoria Maguire the State Permit Ombudsman/Director with the, Massachusetts Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development and Rebecca Sullivan, the First Vice President of Finance for MassDevelopment.
Over 150 participants representing diverse development groups attended the Summit, which included a bus tour of potential sites along with a luncheon at Antonia’s on Revere Beach. Attendees included; Suffolk Downs, Roseland Property Company, Suffolk Construction, Roclid Global, East Boston Health Center, Raymond Property Company, The Kraft Group, Saunders Hotel Group and Tambone Investment Group. Logistical support and presentation materials for the Economic Development Summit were provided by CDM Smith, Community Reinvestment Associates, Inc., Sound & Vision Media, and North Shore Bus Company.
Officials from Lynn and Winthrop also attended and there are now conversations ongoing about regional development efforts.
“We are convinced that this summit sent a strong message to regional and national developers that Revere is ready to work with anyone interested in helping us realize our full potential. I believe that if we nurture existing business relationships and wisely apply incentives to enable new investment we will encourage job-creation and foster a sustainable business-friendly environment and this in turn will improve the quality of life for the entire community,” commented Mayor Rizzo.
