Boston’s 31st Annual HarborFest Opening Ceremony June 28th

BOSTON — Harborfest’s Opening Ceremony takes place on Thursday, June 28th at Faneuil Hall Marketplace, beginning at Noon. Harborfest celebrates the Bicentennial of the War of 1812 honoring the USS CONSTITUTION with devil’s food and white cake for everyone! This cake celebrates the opening festivities of the 31st Annual Boston Harborfest, and America’s 236th birthday.
Montilio’s confections have been presented to visiting dignitaries, US Presidents, Queens and major corporations. They have been creating cakes for over 50 years, including designing cakes for Boston Harborfest Opening Ceremonies cake for 25 years. The cake and frosting use:
100 lbs of cake flour 80 lbs of butter
750 eggs 125 lbs of granulated sugar
50 lbs of cocoa powder 10 gallons of milk
20 lbs of shortening 5 lbs of baking powder
3 lbs of salt
Boston Harborfest has over 300 events taking place during this unique celebration of Boston’s colonial and maritime heritage. Major events taking place on Boston’s City Hall Plaza will include: the 2012 Musical Performances, Party on the Plaza, the 18th Annual Children’s Day, and the 31st Annual Chowderfest, Boston’s original “chowder challenge,” as well as visiting foreign naval ships and Tall Ships.
