Saugus man to face federal charges related to escort service in Maine

SAUGUS – A Saugus man is now in federal custody after sending threatening texts over a $100K debt associated with a Maine escort service. Nicholas Enfanto, 52, now faces a single count of sending interstate communications with intent to extort, a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, according to records filed in the US District Court of Portland.

The victim had apparently been a customer of Enfanto’s Perfect Pleasures Escort Service based in Windham, Maine for eight years, sending checks for provided services to Enfanto’s East Saugus home on Curtis Road.

After the Enfanto learned he began contacting some of his employees directly, the victim was order to pay $400 a week to buy down his debt, according to an FBI affidavit. Despite warnings from police, Enfanto continuously sent threatening, profanity-laced text messages.

Police took Enfanto into custody last week in Saugus, and has been transferred to federal authorities out of Maine. Both preliminary and detention hearings will take place on Wednesday of this week.
