Everett Spring Cleanup on Saturday, May 5

EVERETT – Mayor Carlo DeMaria, Jr. along with the Everett Beautification Committee and Everett Kiwanis will once again hold the Annual Citywide Spring Cleanup Day on Saturday May 5th, from 8AM to 12PM. The Mayor is also happy to welcome RecycleBank and Groundwork Somerville as cleanup partners this year.

The event kicks off at 8AM, rain or shine, and volunteers will meet at the Parlin Library for a light, healthy breakfast snack and receive their assignment. This year’s cleanup will again focus on cleaning of area parks, tot lots and the entryways into the city. Participants are asked to bring work gloves, and be prepared to rake leaves, spread mulch, pick up trash and recyclables, and give the parks a general cleaning

In preparation for Everett’s ribbon cutting ceremony and Bike to the Sea Day on Sunday, June 3rd, volunteers from Energize Everett will be cleaning up the Northern Strand Community Trail (Bike to the Sea). This clean-up will start at the Seven Acre Park, behind the Madeline English School.

Groundwork Somerville, a non-profit organization who partners with Energize Everett, and the Everett Conservation Commission invites residents to join a team from planting native shrubs and flowers at the Seven Acre Park Rain Garden.

Residents can learn about native plants and ecological restoration in urban environments while helping to improve the bike path.  The Rain Garden was funded by National Grid with design and construction coordinated by Groundwork Somerville.

Those interested in participating in the Seven Acre Park/Northern Strand events should report to the  bike path at the north end of Seven Acre Park at 10AM. This event will run through 2PM.
You are asked to wear gloves and sturdy shoes. While tools will be provided, a trowel, shovel and/or rake would be helpful.

Groups or organizations interested in cleaning a specific area or those wishing to suggest additional areas to clean should contact the Mayor’s office at 617-394-2270 or via email at to sign up.
