If you are looking for something a little different this Valentine’s Day, other than your usual sit down 3-course dinner, Salem has just the event for you.  The 10th Annual Salem’s So Sweet Festival kicks off on Friday the 10th and lasts through the actual holiday on the 14th.

If there was ever a perfect time for excess in chocolate and red wine, Valentine’s Day is it! Beginning on Friday, February 10, nearly twenty downtown Salem restaurants and shops will indulge you in samplings of chocolate and wine in historic Hamilton Hall.

But the excitement doesn’t end there.  Over 15 dazzling ice sculptures will be on display in different areas of downtown Salem on Saturday and Sunday as well.  The Salem Trolley will be offering rides throughout the festival route, free for children and only $1 for adults! Most shops will be offering special deals and discounts, chocolate samplings, and raffle prizes as well.

At J’Adore Romantic Gift Shoppe you can create your own personal scent or you can take the kids to Mud Puddle Toys to make their own Valentine’s Day cards.  Stop by the Kensington-Stobart Gallery who will be passing out free chocolates!

In addition to the ice sculptures, there will a window decorating contest adding flair and fun as you walk around the old cobblestone streets of this historic city.  All the shops will be adorned in glittery red hearts and cupid’s arrows, adding to the sparkle in your eye.

Please check out the Salem Main Streets’ website at salemmainstreets.org for a complete list of participating shops and restaurants.  If you are looking to impress the love of your life, entertain the kids, or make a day of it with your girlfriends, I would say this is the way to go.  I know I will be the first one in line at Hamilton Hall with a sweet tooth and a smile.

When: Friday, February 10th-Tuesday, February 14th; Chocolate/Wine Tasting on Friday, February 10th only

Location: Downtown Salem and Hamilton Hall, 9 Chestnut Street for the Chocolate/Wine Tasting

Price: $25 per person for the tasting; all other events are free of charge unless otherwise specified
