MASSACHUSETTS – Gas prices are up three cents this week across the Commonwealth, marking the fourth consecutive week of increases, according to a release from AAA Southern New England on Monday.
AAA’s January 16 survey of prices in Massachusetts found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $3.409 per gallon, two cents above the national average.
Gas prices have risen 19 cents over the last month. A year ago at this time the Massachusetts average price was $3.09.
Find the most up-to-date local gas prices with the AAA Fuel Finder by logging onto AAA.com and clicking on Gas Saving Tips & Tools.
AAA would also like to remind drivers that one of the easiest and most effective ways to conserve fuel is to change driving styles. Instead of making quick starts and sudden stops, go easy on both pedals. If there is a red light ahead, ease off the gas and coast up to it rather than waiting for the last second to brake. Once the light turns green, gently accelerate rather than making a quick start.
