New England Sled Dog Races Rescheduled to Feb. 4 & 5

HAMILTON/IPSWICH – With warm temperatures and no snow in sight, the New England Sled Dog Races have been postponed from the coming weekend until next month. Originally planned for January 14 & 15, the races have now been moved to February 4 & 5.

Drawing thousands of spectators, the race is organized by the Essex County Trails Association and the New England Sled Dog Club, and drew nearly 80 participants last year. The course route is similar, however, the start and finish line has been moved to the Highland Street parking area of Appleton Farms, home to the annual race.

The event is well-organized, the result of a joint effort of landowners, community leaders, the The Trustees of Reservations, the Essex County Greenbelt Association and the Essex County Trail Association. Proceeds from this event go to these latter organizations to allow for further maintaining of the trails and public spaces used for the race.

The race will run from 9AM through 3PM both days, and is free and open to the public. For more information, call 1-978.491.9456 or email
