Everett Imposes New Snow Emergency Regulations

EVERETT – The City of Everett recently announced that new snow emergency parking regulations will go into effect beginning in 2012. In a press release, Mayor Carlo DeMaria, Jr. announced his signing of legislation that changed the city’s Snow Emergency parking regulations.

The new regulation changes which side of the street residents can park during snow emergencies.

Previously, snow emergency regulations called for parking on the even or odd side of the street, depending on the year.  For example, in 2011, regulations required residents to park on the odd side of the street because it was an odd-numbered year.

The new regulations change according to season, rather than year. The major change is the start date of the season, which began Thursday, December 21st. With the new seasonal regulations in effect, there will be no transition on January 1st.

This coming 2012 season will require residents to park on the even side of the street.

Residents and businesses will be reminded of the change via the city’s phone, email and text notification system, in the event of an upcoming storm.
