Celebrating the Dawn of 2012: This Week’s Distractions
MASSACHUSETTS – While it doesn’t necessarily feel like winter has hit, the New Year is upon us. Still looking for something to do? Whether you need to just grab your coat or perhaps get dressed up a bit, visit one of these celebrations to party into the dawn of 2012!
Beverly has a long-standing tradition of hosting New Year’s Eve events and will once again host a First Night celebration in honor of 2012.
Join in this community arts celebration, and welcome the new year with free Holiday Train rides on Cabot Street, performances from Puppeteer Dora Tevan and a Teen Band Jam, and annual favorites like Curious Creatures, Tony Toledo and Peter Jackson’s Magic Show.
Thanks to the events’ generous sponsors, buttons have been priced at an affordable $5.00. Through December 30th, you can buy 3 buttons and get 1 free at the following locations: BEVERLY COOPERATIVE BANK at 254 Cabot Street, CASA DE MODA at 272 Cabot Street, PEOPLE’S UNITED BANK at 240 Cabot Street, and the STERLING CENTER YMCA at 254 Essex Street.

Never ventured into Boston to take part in North America’s oldest First Night Celebration? First Night in Boston attracts more than one million people each New Year’s Eve, and this year’s favorable weather conditions are sure to keep the numbers growing. The 2012 First Night Festival will be held from 1PM to midnight.
All First Night outdoor events are free. The First Night button is the ticket for general admission to all indoor events. Buttons cost $18 each with children under 4 admitted free.

Our friends at China Blossom will celebrate the New Year along with the Lots of Laughs Comedy Lounge for a New Year’s Eve Extravaganza from 9:30PM to 1AM. Dine on a wide array of dishes that elevates the all-you-can-eat experience with China Blossom’s premier buffet featuring classic Asian favorites and live-action cooking and carving stations, create-your-own noodle soups and a diverse selection of sushi. When the big moment arrives, ring in the New Year with festive hats and noisemakers and a complimentary champagne toast.
Enjoy music from DJ Barry Mooney, take in a live performance by singer Carissa Scudieri. Laugh the night away at the Lots of Laughs Comedy Club, located in China Blossom, with a show featuring Jack Walsh, Christine Hurley and John David.
Tickets are $75 per person and include an all-you-can-eat dinner, comedy show, live entertainment, giveaways and a champagne toast at midnight. Everyone will also leave with a gift bag courtesy of China Blossom and Lots of Laughs Comedy Lounge.

New Year’s Rockport Eve 2011 offers six hours of entertainment from 6PM to midnight, including 85 different shows to choose to attend! Clowns, cowboys, magicians, musicians – classical, pop, jazz, Dixieland, folk, country, gospel swing and rock and roll – ventriloquists, dance, drama, puppets, and more!
