App of the Week: Official Times Square Ball Drop App

NoBo’s App of the Week will help you celebrate New Year’s Eve in Times Square without ever leaving the comfort of your home!

Live from the palm of your hand, the Time Square Official Ball Drop App allows you to watch events unfold live, share photos and locations, and even send cards to your friends and family wishing them health and happiness in the new year.

The ball drop at Times Square marks the official beginning of the New Year on the East Coast, and who doesn’t remember a New Year’s Eve where you didn’t watch it happen live on Dick Clark’s Rockin New Years Eve Party

Countdown Entertainment developed the app to go along with the Times Square Ball Drop. The main feature is obviously a countdown clock to New Year’s Eve in days, hours, minutes and seconds. The app also allows users to watch a live stream of Times Square from the webcast or the Times Square Ball cam. Users can also submit their own New Year’s Eve photos and have other users vote on those photos.

Perhaps the best feature of the app is its abilities to create e-cards, which can include users’ New Year’s Eve photos, and then email the cards or post the cards to Facebook or Twitter.

It’s easy to use, and allows users instant access to the world’s most famous New Year’s event, no matter how close or far away to New York City.

The Times Square Official Ball Drop App is available for free in both the iTunes store as well as the Android Market.
