Improv Asylum Teams Up with Globe Santa to Help Needy Families
BOSTON – Looking for a way to celebrate the holidays this weekend with your family and friends? Still looking for that special way to help those in need this year? This weekend’s “No Rest for the Wicked Funny” is Improv Asylum‘s annual event that benefits the Globe Santa program.
This is the seventh year of the production, which begins Friday at 8PM, continuing for 24-hours nonstop until 8PM on Saturday evening. In its inaugural debut, the “No Rest for the Wicked Funny’’ show raised $5,501.50. Last year, the event raised nearly $31,000. In the last two years, the fundraiser has raised nearly $60,000.
This year’s event will also feature three live auctions, the first and second on Friday at 9PM and 10:30PM. The final auction will be held on Saturday at 6PM, just before the conclusion of the event. Auction items include tickets to Patriots, Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, and Boston College games; autographed sports memorabilia; theater tickets; ski passes; hotel and dinner packages; a New England history package; and more!
One hundred percent of the event’s profits are donated to Globe Santa, which has delivered toys to needy families since 1956. Tickets are $20, but a suggested donation of $35 also covers a holiday package for one child from Globe Santa.
The Improv Asylum is located at 216 Hanover St. in the North End of Boston. For more information, go to www.improvasylum.com/norest, or call 617-263-6887. You may also visit their box office or tickets may be purchased at the door.
