EVERETT – Decorated in the holiday spirit, over a hundred people gathered to celebrate the season and support their local library last week. The Wine Tasting event offered residents and library supporters to sample and learn about more than a dozen wines from around the world.
The event has become an annual tradition in Everett, with this year’s raised funds being diverted to the Shute Library Renovation Fund, the subject of an upcoming NoBo article.
Organized by McCormack’s Liquors of Hancock Street and appetizers provided by Rita’s Catering, attendees enjoyed a wonderful evening with friends, including a raffle with items donated by local businesses and individuals, ranging from sports memorabilia to handcrafted jewelry to gift baskets and restaurant certificates.
A group of special items, including Red Sox Tickets, a baseball signed by Curt Shilling, and lunch with Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr. and Mrs. Stacy DeMaria were sold to the highest bidders by auctioneer and Everett native, Vinnie Ragucci.
The evening ended with a cup of coffee and a sweet treat prepared by the Culinary Arts Department of the Everett Public Schools.
The library would like to extend a special thanks to the students who ran the coat check and helped with the raffle; Trevor Freeman, Lena Nguyen, Dulcie Placios, Skylar To and Trisha To as well.
A special thanks also goes to the sponsors of the event. Gold Sponsors were Dampney, Co., Inc., Distrigas GDF Suez, Everett Cooperative Bank, Honey Dew Family Foundation, Schnitzer Steel. Silver Sponsors were Dunkin’ Donuts, Eagle Bank, E-Kem Sciences, Law Offices of Capone & Capone, and Salvatore Rocco & Sons-Carr Henderson Funeral Homes. Sponsors were Frederick Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Paul L. Debole, Law Offices of Paul Delory, Honda of Boston, Rocco Livery Service, State Line and State Line Graphics. Donors were DMC Productions, Everett Credit Union and RL Electronics.
