Housing Families Named Charitable Partner in Gingerbread Competition
BOSTON – On November 4th the 18th Annual Gingerbread House Competition was held to kick off Boston’s Christmas Festival at the Seaport World Trade Center. Celebrating its 25th Anniversary, the Christmas Festival is annual craft event ushering in the holiday season in Boston.
Celebrity chefs from restaurants and culinary schools in Greater Boston created festive gingerbread houses, each with a unique theme. Local Boston celebrities were on hand to judge the houses, and awards were given for most creative, best tasting, kids’ choice, and best in show. Gingerbread houses were auctioned off and proceeds from the auction benefited Housing Families Inc., a non profit organization based in Malden, MA, whose mission is to assist homeless families throughout Greater Boston.
Gingerbread entries were created by chefs from Alma Nove Restaurant, Craigie on Main, Entertainment Cruises, Finale Desserterie and Bakery Café, Ginger Betty’s Bakery, Gingerbread Construction Company, Gourmet Caterers, Kate and Jessica Rouselle, Le Cordon Bleu, Phillips Candy House , Sweet Things, Tosca Restaurant and Whole Foods Market-Charles River Plaza.
Generous businesses supporting the event by participating in the auction for gingerbread houses include: Cassidy Turley FHO, Christina’s Fireside Grill, Eagle Bank, Gardel Food Equipment, Melrose Cooperative Bank, Ora Inc., and Willowdale Estate.
Humboldt Storage and Moving Company assisted in the transporting and delivery of the gingerbread houses to their new owners.
